Learn About Our Expert

A professional photographer from Europe who has worked on a wide variety of projects and publications, our expert is a veritable Sinophile and urban explorer who loves nothing better than treading the streets of Shanghai’s lesser-explored neighborhoods whenever the opportunity arises.

How much does it cost? 2,600RMB for 1-2 people; 400RMB per additional person. For groups of 8 or more please contact us.

How long will it take? 3 hours

When can I do it? Mornings are best, as the parks and streets are humming with activity, but afternoons are possible also. Other locations can be suggested depending on timing.

Getting there: The cost does not include transportation to and from the start and finish points, so be sure to book a Bespoke car if you’d like to arrive with minimal hassle. The tour itself takes place on foot.

Start Point: Hongkou Stadium Subway

End Point: Hongkou Stadium Subway

Children: Are welcome.

Any other costs I should know about? Nope!

How far in advance should I book? As far in advance as possible.

What to bring: Your camera. Our expert suggests a basic digital camera with adjustable settings (a good quality camera phone can be used in a pinch, but makes for less technical instruction).

Our favourite bit: Our expert has a great rapport with locals in this area, so the chance to peek inside a home (with permission!) or exchange a conversation with a friendly neighbor creates some great serendipitous, and photo-worthy, moments.
